Holy smokes, it’s June 1st — where did May go?!

Today is the first day of summer break for my kids, and I'm adjusting to a totally new schedule, I’m traveling to speak at The Thing Nashville, and I’m on the tail end of a head cold. Sometimes life is messy.

My business has been at a revenue plateau for the better part of six months (minus April, which was my highest revenue month ever — hooray!), and I’ve been working to break the pattern.

For the past 6 months, I've been really intentional about my sales system, doubling down on what actually works, and letting go of strategies that weren’t pulling their weight. I’ve seen those efforts start to compound… but I was still missing something.

This week, I had a breakthrough while on a call with my coach. She shared that there are three distinct seasons in business: Operational Seasons, Visibility Seasons, and Sales Seasons. And because sales is, well, my jam — I pretty much live there full-time.

So when revenue dips, I lean on my ability to sell and essentially slap a Band-Aid on the problem instead of slowing down long enough to fix it. By skimming over the operational & visibility seasons, I haven’t been running my own business like a true CEO, despite coaching so many clients on exactly that.

It's clear to me now that that’s been my bottleneck.

When you don’t slow down to assess what worked last month and realign your focus for the next one, you end up reacting to your business instead of leading it. Which I TOTALLY KNOW, and coach my clients on ALL THE TIME. But knowing something and changing your behavior are two very different things, which is exactly why I hired a coach.

1. Which season have you been in? (Operations, Visibility, or Sales) And which season would serve you to be in during June?

2. What’s one strategy you’ve trying to make happen that hasn’t delivered results in the last 90 days?

3. Are you spending more time working in your business than on it, and what’s that costing you?

If you have a hard time answering these questions, perhaps that alone is a sign that you need support in your business.

And if your answers made you a little uncomfortable, honestly… same. But it’s such a gift to find the uncomfortable areas, because that’s where the potential growth lives.


Dive In: Article Of The Week

How do I show people the value in what I'm selling?

This is probably the hardest question for new business owners to answer — and one of the most common frustrations I hear from clients. They know what they do is incredible, but they can't seem to get their potential clients to see it too.

That disconnect usually leads to one conclusion: I need to be more persuasive.

But here's the thing, no one likes to be convinced of anything. The harder you push, the faster people walk out the door. It's human nature to get skeptical and resistant the moment we sense someone has an agenda.

So a hot pitch? It's just never going to get the job done.

The real problem isn't your pitch. It's your infrastructure.

Feeling the need to persuade is actually a symptom of a deeper issue: you're missing the sales infrastructure that makes selling feel easy.

Which is exactly what I teach in Rainmaker. We break it down into 4 core areas:

  • Sales Mindset — If you believe selling is manipulative or that you're taking something from people, you're going to resist doing it. Full stop. We start here, shifting your belief so you can see sales for what it actually is: an opportunity to build a relationship and create real transformation.
  • Sales Skills — Good intentions only go so far. If you're struggling to make sales, you need to sharpen your skills; leading a sales conversation, writing compelling copy, selling from stage. These are skills that, once learned, never leave you.
  • Sales Systems — This is the big one. When you don't have a system, you're doing all the heavy lifting in the sales conversation. When you do have one, your prospects are being intentionally nurtured every step of the way, so by the time they get on a call with you, they're already in. The conversation becomes logistical, not persuasive.
  • Sales Strategies — Not just any strategies. Ones that actually fit you. So many people are out here using tactics they hate, borrowed from coaches whose style is nothing like theirs. This is the Rainmaker Framework, and it's the foundation of everything inside the program.
